Christmas

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." -- Jesus Christ

A year comes to a close.

You wipe that H 1 N 1 from your runny nose.

You want that shot of penicillin.

But the local drugstore is closed on Christmas.

You think you've heard it all.

As we low-ball to death at the shopping mall

Still no one’s around for heeding the call on Christmas.

It could break your heart

When things don't go your way

With superficial toys you want yesterday.

And all those olden times may well lose their glow.

Tell me, "When's the last time you've seen a kiss under the mistletoe?"

(Well maybe for show.)

As you stare into the fire,

You're taunted by some choir.

Maybe Jesus himself is getting pretty sick and tired of Christmas.

You'll get what you want

When you force your way.

That nifty notion still holds in the world today.

Find that gentle soul.

Make him sign the deal.

If the truth is far off, just have faith that he'll never appeal.

Be prepared not to feel.

And let Satan be your guide.

He will let you slide

As the fool you have burned commits his suicide

On Christmas.

Christmas.

Christmas.
